Whilst there was not the abundance of fruit this 2023 Autumn, it was the sunniest June in a while which ensured young apples got the sunshine hours they needed to develop the full potential of their taste and flavour. In particular, the sunshine helped to build up the delicious natural sugars in this seasons crop. Fruit trees crop late in the season, from September to October, and you can store the fruit if you do it right until around Christmas to January, although eating apples and pears within the first week or two fresh from the tree is always the best, crispest fruit.
