Description
Acer palmatum ‘Beni Hagoromo’ is a beautiful variety of Japanese Maple with a very distinctive leaf shape that makes it look as though it is covered in feathers. In spring, the leaves emerge a crimson red in colour, which over the summer months darkens to a deep green, almost purple colour. The leaf colour is more distinguished depending on the light levels it receives, so the red will be more vibrant and bright in areas that receive good sunlight. If planted in an area too shaded, the leaf colour will be predominantly green-purple. In autumn, the leaf transitions through shades of fiery red, before dropping for the winter. It has a neat upright habit, reaching an ultimate height of about 2.5-3m, with a compact spread of 1-1.5m.
