Description
Chimonanthus ‘praecox’ also known as wintesweet or Japanese allspice, native to the forests of China. A delightful shrub that produces an abundance of sweetly scented flowers in January and February on bare stems. A favourite of flower arrangers. With glossy dark green leaves that turn bright yellow in winter it is definitely one to think about for year round interest. Perfect to position in a sunny, sheltered spot beside a patio or seating area where the full benefit of its fragrance can be appreciated. With a mature height of over 2.5 meters it works very well in smaller and medium gardens. Tolerant of most soil types but does prefer a moist well drained soil.
