Description
Thymus serpyllum, otherwise known as Wild Thyme or Creeping Thyme, is a hardy evergreen ground cover plant with aromatic, dark green dark green foliage. Flowers are produced in summer, creating a beautiful carpet of light pink. Occasionally the flowers can open to white or deep pink on individual plants. The blooms are very good for attracting bees and butterflies. It’s very compact, growing to a height of about 10cm, with a spread of 40-60cm. It loves a good sunny spot with well draining soil, and so it is perfect for rockeries, between footpaths or paving stones, cascading over stone walls, or for trailing over the edges of pots or raised beds. It can be used as flavouring in cooking.
