Description

Tilia henryana or Henry’s lime is a native of China and far smaller than the more common European varieties. A slow growing tree reaching no more than 12 to 15 meters at maturity in the Irish climate. Leaves initially emerge pink before turning green. It produces an abundance of creamy white flowers on lime green stamens in late Summer and into early Autumn. These highly scented flowers are much loved by bees gardeners alike. Flowers are followed by a green fruit which slowly turns a brownish grey.

Grows best in a sun or partial shade with some shelter from winds. Soil type neutral to slightly acidic, moist and well draining.
