Description
Pittosporum ‘Bannow Bay’ is a compact evergreen shrub with bright grey-green young foliage with cream edges. In autumn, vibrant pink hues fringe the leaves as the temperatures start to cool. In winter the leaves further darken to a deep maroon purple. The transition of colour throughout the seasons makes this plant a fantastic choice for year-round interest. It is perfect for pots and planters, and will also grow well in raised beds, mixed borders and rockery areas. It can grow in semi-shade, but the colour changes show up best when planted in full sun. It is nice and compact, growing in a mounded shape to a max height and spread of about 1m, but can also be easily clipped and maintained at a desired size. Like other Pittosporums, it requires a site sheltered from very cold winter winds. It is well adapted to coastal exposure and can make a fantastic hedge in a seaside garden.
